Markdown viewer
Paste Markdown or open a .md file, and read it formatted. Headings, lists, links, quotes and code show the way they are meant to read. This is a free page that runs in your browser.
Your file stays on your computer. The conversion runs in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.
Formatted
A Markdown viewer shows a Markdown file formatted, so a # before a line becomes a heading and text inside ** becomes bold, instead of showing the plain-text marks.
How to view a Markdown file
- Paste your Markdown in the box, or choose Open a .md file, or drop the file on the box.
- Read it under Formatted. It changes as you edit the Markdown.
- Open another file at any time. The page keeps nothing once you close the tab.

Questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. The view is built in your browser on your own computer. The page sends nothing about your file anywhere, and nothing is stored or logged.
Is the Markdown viewer free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on how many files you view.
Is this the Sashmark app?
No. This is a free page that runs in your browser. Sashmark is a separate desktop app that is still in development.
Why do images show as a note?
An image shows as a short note with its description and address. The page never loads images, so viewing a file never sends a request to the place an image is stored.
What happens to HTML inside the Markdown?
It shows as text, not as tags, so nothing in the file can run a script on this page.
What happens to links?
A link stays a link. A link whose address would run code keeps only its text.
Is there a size limit?
Yes. Markdown over 5 MB is refused, and a file that takes more than two seconds shows a message instead of the view.
What is Sashmark?
A Markdown reader and editor for macOS, Windows and Linux, in development, at a planned $14.99 one-time.
